Due to the obsolescence of the existing building, the client has decided to demolish the building and to organise an international architectural competition for a new one.
The winner Sauerbruch Hutton from Berlin has imagined an irregular elliptic shape, which maximise the office space in accordance with Geneva legislations. The façade based on a regular structural frame reveals a great complexity with its game of colourful “ogive” shapes of different sizes.
The offset position of the vertical distribution core allows large possibilities for the internal fit out. With the elliptic shape, the floor level can be proposed to one or several tenants, either in individual office desk or open space fit out.
The building labelled Minergie implements a heating and cooling geothermal system, active slabs and double skin façade. The façade is made of triple glazing, blinds and glass screens. The whole is framed by tinted glass with 13 distinct colours. At night, a subtle LED lighting enhances the colours of curved and twisted tinted glass.
